Mariynskiy license block is located in the southern part of Stavropol Territory, in territory of Kirov district, 15 km from the Novopavlovsk railway station. Novopavlovsk is an administrative centre of Kirov district. The block size is 47,8 sq km.

The long-distance oil pipeline Baku-Novorossisk (720 mm) is situated 50 km from the block and the main gas pipeline Nevinnomyssk - Maikop (720мм) is 180 km from the block.

Stavropol Territory is the youngest oil and gas district of Ciscaucasia, at the same time for the last 30 years there the block has achieved the high level of exploration success.

In territory of the block in 60s-80s of the last century seismic works were carried out using a CDP method, and also 7 deep wells were drilled, as a result Maryinskoe uplift was discovered, its oil bearing prospects are connected with Jurassic intersalt carbonate organigenic deposits. Here in the well №5 at the bottom of intersalt formation the oil influx was 200 cu м per day, it was observed about 3 days.

There are 710 thous t of recoverable oil resources under C3 category in the Maryinskaya area on the State balance of mineral reserves of Russian Federation as of 01.01.2005.
